Colorado School of Mines is a public research university that concentrates on engineering and applied science. This higher education institution founded in 1874 to provide educational services to meet the state's need for new mining methods. Colorado School of Mines is the first institution of higher learning opened in Colorado. The University is located at 1500 Illinois Street, Golden, CO 80401, USA.

Due to the university campus there are geological museum, the Colorado School of Mines also houses one of Colorado's two moon rocks that were collected during the Apollo 17 mission.
